A woman had to be extricated by firefighters after her car crashed with two garbage trucks in South Seattle.
The crash happened at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday in the 4400 block of Fourth Avenue South just south of Costco and closed the southbound lanes.

Seattle police said a preliminary investigation suggested that a woman driving a Mazda Protege was travelling southbound on Fourth Avenue South when she crossed the center line and clipped a garbage truck traveling northbound. The Mazda then lost control and crashed with a second northbound garbage truck.

Seattle fire spokesman Kyle Moore said it took 15 minutes for firefighters to extricate the woman in her 40s from her small car.  Moore said she was unresponsive and was transported to Harborview with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the first garbage truck was not hurt.  The driver of a second garbage truck, a man in his early 30s, was complaining of neck pain.  He was also transported to Harborview.
